For those of us who like politics almost as much as sports, yesterday was the start of the playoffs.
For the Democrats, Hillary's third place finish was a surprise. If she doesn't win in New Hampshire, Obama might just have too much momentum. He proved he can win in the midwest, and he should do well in the southern states like South Carolina. However, if Hillary wins in New Hampshire it's a whole new ball game. She and Big Bill will be campaigning hard this weekend.
At least the Dems are down to two candidates. The Republicans don't have a clear frontrunner and it might be some time before they do. The Preacher won't do as well in New Hampshire. Granite Staters are less concerned with "values" and more concerned with competence and experience. It should be a real battle between McCain and Romney. McCain has done everything except buy a house in New Hampshire, and Romney has a house in New Hampshire. If Romney wins he's in great shape, and if he finishes second again he's in good shape. It's more of a "must win" for McCain. Rudy is putting all his eggs in the Florida basket, where old New Yorkers go to die.
I can't wait for the second round of the playoffs next Tuesday.
