Hyannis 10K

This morning I competed in my first, and probably last, 10K road race. I was doing pretty well until I reached the 4.5 mile mark in Hyannisport. When I took a right on Scudder Ave., the road went straight up hill and I was done. From that point, it was just a matter of hanging in there until the finish line.

The good news is, it was a beautiful day for a walk/jog along the ocean on beautiful Cape Cod. There were actually three races, a 10K (6.2 miles), half-marathon (13.1 miles), and a marathon (26.2 miles) There were 600 runners in the 10K, 600 in the marathon, and around 2000 in the half marathon. That was good for those of us who finished in the back of the pack in the 10K, because we mixed in with the half-marathoner's at the finish line. I'll be there again next year - as a spectator.
